Tools to use in the Classroom

I plan to use technology tools as well as the traditional tools in my classroom.I plan to use the computer and the internet for many activities.I will have a class blog to help parents stay connected and to teach students about blogging.I plan to connect with other classrooms through blogging to create internet pen pals.I will use goggle documents to create spreadsheets for grades and class list.I plan to use the internet as a tool to take the students on virtual tours of educational sites like museums.I plan to use i Tunes as a tool to listen to pod cast and watch educational videos.I plan to have or barrow a microphone to create are own class podcast to put on our class blog.I think this could be an ice breaker activity the first week of school to help the students get to know each other. The students could interview each other. We would use the traditional tools like pencils, scissors, and glue as well. But using technology tools will be an important part of our classroom.

Ideas to Inspire Reading

Reading is a big part of the elementary education program. My classroom will have labels on everything so that the students can see the text for things.I plan to have lots of posters and signs with pictures and words hanging in the room.I will have a vast number of books on varying subjects.I plan to have many books on tape as well so the children can listen to the words being read and see them.I plan to have many phonetic centers like alphabet bingo, stamping letters, and magnetic letters that are fun.I plan to read to the students everyday and encourage going to the library.I will ask questions about what we read and have open discussions.I really love reading want to help became life long readers.

Encouraging Parent Involvement

I believe parent involvement is a very important part of the education process.Children need to see that their education is important to their parents. If they see it is important to their parents it will be more important to them.As as teacher I plan to send home parent letters about what is going on in the classroom and create a class blog so that the parent can connect that way as well.I plan to invite the parents into the classroom as guest readers and special projects.I know all parents cannot come to the classroom but they can show their children that they care about their education in other ways by sending in items, going on field trips, and sharing the class blog and asking their child about school.I plan to make homework at least once a week involve the the parent and child. For example having the child read to the parent and having the parent sign that they read the book to them. The smallest thing that lets the students know they parents care will make a big difference.

my goals....

My main goal as a teacher will to provide a comfortable learning environment for my students where they will learn.I want them to look forward to coming to school and I want to look forward to it as well.I plan to have a colorful, comfortable classroom, with learning in mind. I hope to provide them good memories and the knowledge they need to move to the next class.Since I will be teaching in Elementary school I really want the students to enjoy coming to school and learning because it sets a presence for the rest of their education.I plan to make their experience in my classroom fun, interesting, and safe.

Exploring Art

I plan to use art in the classroom in many subject areas.I think children respond well to art and can learn from creating art. There are so many mediums and subjects to choose from in art. Art helps keep things fresh and fun.Art projects can be made to go along with what ever is been studied to help reinforce skills.Things that students do not quite grasp from tradional teaching can be learned by hands on art activitives like collages, posters, and models of things.
